Gearbox Removal and Partial Disassembly

Car appears to be shrinking. Gearbox now removed.






Looking up the belly of the beast. Interesting how the injectors face upwards. 
Not sure how that works but it obviously does.


Gearbox design very different to Hewland in that the gears remain on the shafts when the rear case is removed. 




The two photos above illustrate another difference between BRM and Helwand design.
The dog ring with the larger dogs is from the BRM box the smaller dogs are from a Hewland box (from a F1 car of the same era)


Now time for me to remove the engine. 
The first step being to remove the labyrinth of water, oil and fuel lines, cables and electrical connections.
